The PWS Residency Studios are fully equipped workspaces designed for exploration and exchange. Each studio provides the tools, space, and support artists need to develop their projects. From wheel throwing and hand-building to glazing, casting, and firing. All within the creative heart of Jingdezhen.
The studio & tools
Get immersed into Jingdezhen’s living ceramic culture. Whether you join us for a few weeks, or a longer immersion, each residency includes a semi-private studio, on-site living, fresh daily meals, and the support of bilingual coordinators to connect deeply into the art and craft.
12 semi-private studios
Each resident works in a 13m² semi-private studio, available 24/7 in a thermostatically controlled building.
The studios balance privacy for focused work with a communal atmosphere that encourages exchange and collaboration.
Bilingual studio coordinators
Our bilingual studio coordinators act as translators, guides, and problem-solvers. They help you navigate Jingdezhen’s ceramic networks, connect with local masters, and overcome cultural or technical hurdles.
Studio Electric kilns
Our electric kilns are reliable, easy to schedule, and designed for efficient daily firing of resident work.
There are a total of seven electric kilns of various sizes, including two dedicated to the International Residence Studio.
Plenty of storage
Big project or lots of small parts? Our studios are equipped with a modular shelf system for you to keep easily keep an overview.
24/7 hour access
Early bird or night owl? Our residency is open 24/7 for artists with your private code.
